cam swap labor
hey guys. my friend has a 2001 ws6 and he is getting ready to purchase a cam and kit for the swap. he doesnt know much about doing it himself, so he is going to go to a shop and get it done. the place he was originally going to get it done told him it would be about 3000 total for the cam, kit, and labor itself. i told him that he is getting shafted when it comes to labor. what should the basic, approximate cost be at a good shop to get this done? and does anybody know of a good place in the greater St. Louis area to get it done? thanks guys

Maybe for a head/cam kit!!!
Most shops charge about 400 labor for a F-body give or take a little bit. He will also need new valve springs and depending on the size of the cam may need a tune. However even with a tune, valve springs, cam, and labor for every thing i would say 1100-1200 bucks would not be a bad price.
If its just the cam then about 750 for the cam and install.

You're in MO???
I'll fly out there and provide the cam and necessary components and labor and do it for $2800. I'll save your friend $200
I'm such a nice guy aren't I?
Tell him to not be afraid. Buy a good manual and go for it. He'll be rewarded with pride and extra cash in his pocket
