Default A/C not working

(1995 Z28) My A/C does not work. I bought freon and attached the gage to the system. It never dropped in pressure when the A/C was on max. Next, I checked the fuse andthat isgood. Then I noticed the clutch is not engaging. The only thing I can think of is the sensor is bad or the clutch is bad. The sensor has 3 prongs. Does anyone know how the sensor works and why the A/C would not work, other than I need a new A/C clutch?

What was the gauge reading? Sounds like it might be just low on freon and you needed to leave it on and let it charge some. Low freon causes the clutch not to kick in.
