Broken Bolt on a Water pump!?
Okay, so im working day by day to have my 98 running smooth.
Its a V6, lil gas saver
im workin on this water pump cause the thing is pissing coolant!
Problem is one of the tiny 10mm bolt head is missing
Wen i say missing i mean tge bold head is lik shaved off
No way to getta socket on there. N hardly ne room to drill ..
Not really sure what to do at this point, if i should attempt to extract it my self
Or pay to hav a professional do it.. N what would a professional do?
Really lookin for ne ideas fellas.
all advise is appritiated
Thanks

I am not sure which bolt you are talking about but most likely I would pull the radiator center it with a punch and drill it out with a left hand drill. If the left handed drill did not walk the bolt out (most of the time it does) I would shot some heat down the new hole and get it cherry red and cool it real fast with water. Then go in with an extractor while heating around the outside of the threads.
You could also make sure the head is completely gone and remove all the other bolts. The pump should come off. Then file two flats on the bolt neck and see if those vise grips can get the job done. And yes I have had to pull motors and even disassemble engine parts in order to extract broken bolts sometimes they can be a real problem.

running at 210 is normal on the gauge. THe fans kick in when the ecu sees a temp of around 225. It is that way for emissions. The guage is not really accurate in that from 200-225 the gauge stays in the 210 reading range. Get a live data reading code reader and you can see ecu temp live. I thought the same thing till I did some searching, then ran it and sure enough they wont come on till around 225 or 226.
