Brake proportioning/combination valve?

The brake light on the dash of my 1995 3.4L V6 has been on ever since I had the rear end swapped a year or two ago. The brakes stop/feel fine. When I unplug the plug in the picture, the brake light goes off. What is the correct name for this part? Where do I find another one? Could this be why my brake light is always on?

Thanks for your reply craby. Pushing on the brake pedal didn't work, but I did finally get the light to go off. I decided I wanted to change the brake fluid, so I sucked out as much as I could from the master cylinder with a turkey baster, and then I bled each brake starting with the abs module under the hood. After I did this, the brake light was gone!
Took it for a short test drive and the brakes feel great! I'm not sure if I reset the proportioning valve by doing this or if there was just some air in one of the lines, but the light is off and I'm happy.
