After reading through this thread, I felt it would it may be helpful to mention for future reference that once a BCM has been programmed with the resistance value of the key, that value cannot be changed. Taking a used BCM from another car would not work unless the resistive values of both BCM's matched or the resistor value of the used BCM was known and a new was key cut. Doing a VATS bypass could also be a solution.

But my windows lose power too? If it is just the radio that would not happen right> I think maybe the connections to the BCM are loose because smacking the dashboard would not have any bearing on a bad solder?

Slapping the dashboard could definitely indicate a loose solder joint. It would have the same effect as a loose wired connection. If you have problems sometimes with the power windows as well as with the radio, then follow this procedure to fix it. It is VERY common.

This issue happens due to the proximity of the RAP relay on the BCM circuit board. The top of the relay, which is the highest part on the circuit board, rests against the cover; and that cover sometimes comes into contact with the heater/AC blower motor next to the BCM. The vibration does the damage to the initially weak joint.

So I googled a new BCM and found one on Amazon for $212 however there seems to be a question of whether or not it would need to be synchronized to my computer? Any idea?

I don't under stand your reasoning. Even if you buy another BCM, you will still have to remove the old one and install the new one. That is 90% of the work involved in repairing the old one. Makes no sense.

A replacement used BCM will need to have new ignition keys made to match. You will need to know the resistance code of the replacement BCM.

I do not understand your response. I would not repair it as I do not have those skills. I would not purchase a used one I would purchase a New one. I was asking if installing a New one would require additional steps so that my car would recognize it?

No, the first time the ignition is turned on, the BCM will store the resistive value of the key in the ignition.
