Default Back up lights

My reverse lights stop working, on my 96 3.8 5spd, i checked the bulbs both are good, which leads me to think the switch is bad, it's located on the tranny.

My question is has anyone had to change out theirs an how much of a pita is it?

I believe there is a fuse that also controls the back up lights along with some other things, have you checked it? I have not changed one out so I don't know.
