Approximate Cost
Howdy yall! I have a dream....of a bad *** **** camaro. I was just wondering the approx cost of all this stuff I will list below, if anybody has done anything like this and has a estimate please share it with me, alright, here we go:
98-02 Camaro
supercharger
cam
mean *** exhaust with electronic cut outs
roll cage
professional tuning: I would like a set up with an economical mode (which would be tuned for the best gas mileage and for the least wear and tear on the engine), a sport mode (which would be tuned to the max, as much power as you could possibly get out of pump gas with all the goodies it'd have), and a full blown race mode (which would be for use with racing fuel, which I plan on putting a 5 gallon fuel cell somewhere with a dual fuel tank switch, so at any time I could switch over to racing fuel and racing mode)
etc, etc.
Basically I want the thing to be the most bad *** car in my whole state. My goal would be to take down a Ferrari that is common seen around my town. I have around 70k to play with, so money is no matter at all (received 150k in inheritance from an uncle of mine who was LOADED rich, and I wanna dump about half of it into a MEAN, MEEEEEAAAN Camaro. Why? Because I can)
Basically, my end goal for the camaro would be on racing fuel in racing mode, over 1000 hp. think thats possible with the ls1? If not, I was thinking of dropping a brand new ls2 in it. I am not gonna be doing the work myself, I am a tinkerer at best, and this kind of a build would be way over my head. Also, anybody know what shop I should use? I want it to be done by the best of the best, and as I said, money isn't a problem.
Also, would it be possible to run NOS on a tuned engine that may be running on racing fuel at the time? I don't know, and if I can't break the 1000 hp goal w/o it, I may add a couple tanks. mainly I just want to build a camaro that would whoop all these 1000 hp supra's asses, ya know? Also, with that much power, I would definitely need some type of traction control I figure, otherwise I won't even be able to move, I'll just sit there and spin rubber all day.

Why would anyone buy a low miles SS and rip out the motor. 1000hp there will be no part of the entire drive line that was made by GM. I mean whats the point of finding a 20K car when you could find a ratted out Z28 for 6K and do I real nice custom interior and paint. Once you gut the car and modify it to handle 1000 hp it will never be an orginal SS.
Your budget is about right. I don't think the Ferrari would keep up with a 650 HP Z. Why a camaro why not a Vet? You realize once you put that 70K into the car it will be worth about 25K. Atleast if you bought a year old Vet and put twin turbos on it would be worth 70-80% of the money invested. Better yet take it off the road and build a real race car for about 20K and keep the 1000 Hp where it belongs, on the track. Invest the other 50K.

Well, that post in my sig about a low miles camaro, that was from when I was thinking about taking out a loan and somehow managing to scrape it by. Then my uncle passed away and left me his house which is worth easily 150-180, so I decided, you know what? I'ma treat myself. I don't care how many miles the camaro has now, cuz I'll send it away and get every little imperfection fixed. And, I have been looking at corvette's. I stopped into the dealership and test drove a brand new z06 yesterday, and............goddamn is all I can say, if you haven't been in one yet, go and test drive one, the thing was just soooo much fun.
And I do plan on turning this into a race car basically and taking it to the tracks, but I would also like to have the ability to drive it all the time. I have been thinking about buying a new 5th gen camaro and leaving it stock until the warranty is up, but I really want a track car, and the 4th gens are almost a 1000 pounds lighter, which is a huge plus on the track. Also, like I am kinda spoiled by my uncle, lol, like my durango I have now is a 98, loaded with every option you can get, and he bought it when it was new. He let me drive it all the time, off-road and what not, and then when I turned 16 he came and picked me up and we went for like my first legal cruise, then when we got back, he tossed me the keys and said "happy birthday." This was in 2003, so it was only like a 5 year old car, it was still immaculate, and he paid 40 grand for it. He didn't have any kids, and I was like his favorite nephew. And that's another treason I'd like to build a bad *** camaro, like I like to name all my cars (the Savvy Cavvy and Rambo 'Rango), so I would like kind of name this car somehow after my uncle, not sure yet how, so it'd be like in his memory, you know? Idk, I may end up spoiling myself and getting a 2001-2004 used corvette z06, and twin turbo-ing or even twin-charging it  lol, idk yet, I'm just feeling it out right now, so I was just wondering about a approx. cost. I am gonna check that one link out to speed inc. Thanx for all the replys yall!
Yeah, I am going use most of the money as a huge down payment on a nice house, since like I just graduated college. But I also want a bad *** car, and I've always loved the 98-02 Camaros. I've always told myself I was gonna buy one day, and now I have the money to buy one and trick it out like mad, so I'm probably gonna take advantage of it. I'm gonna go test drive a new Camaro SS sometime this week though, to see how I like them. I loved the new z06, but idk, like dumping 70 grand into a new car, even a bad *** one, that's stock and mistakeable for any other corvette, isn't really my thing. I like having cars that people recognize as mine right away, something unique that stands out in a crowd and makes people go "Daaaaamn. Now that's a sick ride", you know? And, I mean, right now I'm driving a cavalier, and no matter how fun it is, it's still, you know, just a cavalier, and I don't get no respect (I did toast a modded Corrolla on the back roads once, it was all built and pretty quick but the driver sucked at keeping his speed up through the turns)
