I'm looking for a roll bar to go in my 1997 convertible. The closest I've found yet is Alston racing AL-101054 but I'm not even sure if it fits convertibles, I've got a tech question into jegs right now. I'm curious how you mount it to the vehicle? Are there any other brands I should be looking for?

 

Sorry I have not done it and I have not seen anyone do a 4 point like you are looking at. Since the 4 point is not recognized by any racing requirements it is not very popular.



I do agree that in a roll over the 4 point roll bar is better then nothing BUT keep in mind that it is more likely that you will get rear ended and split your head open on the roll bar then you will flip your car unless you are road racing a lot. Roll bar should equal helmet. The 6 point roll bars are worse on the road. You get T-boned in the drivers door and you going right into the side bar.

If you are not planning to wear a helmet you need to pad up that bar a lot and forget using the back seat that would be a death trap in a wreck.

 

Yeah, I agree on all those points. If you look below this thread now it says related threads, there's one by libertyforall1776 that shows pics of his roll bar. I don't know if I could even slide the driver's seat back far enough for me. I'm a big guy and I'm just about sitting in the back seat. I probably won't get one. I just figured I'd be doing some spirited driving in this thing.
