Default any brake suggestions

I drive a '94 z28, I'm looking for pads and shoes for the front and rear, I don't do any real racing just the occasional street race

so far everyone is saying go ceramic but I don't know what brand to look for or anything like that

If you just drive the car regularly it really shouldnt matter which pads you get, just don't buy the cheapest thing you can find and avoid metallic pads, other than that it is more just preference and life depends a lot on how you drive.

Definately try to aviod metallic, those will chew up your rotors before the pads. You should get ceramic at least for the front since it does most of the stopping. Ray Bestos makes excellent ceramic pads. I got their Professional Grade Plus (PG Plus) pads from Parts America online. I believe they were around $80. As for the rear, any organic shoes will do fine.

I always go with Ray Bestos pads. Ceramic pads usually don't stop the car quite as well until they get warmed up (you won't see significant warming driving on the street), but to their benefit you don't have to deal with the black brake dust, which is always nice.

I agree with Raybestos being a good name. I never really noticed a difference in stopping ability between the ceramic and metallic pads though. The biggest advantage with the ceramic is that it doesn't turn your wheels black with soot. Ceramic pads shed material like metallic pads do, but the residue doesn't stick to the wheels like the metallic does.

go with bendix from advance auto - they are a good brand and they have a lifetime replacement - once you wear them out just send them in and you'll get another pair for free and you can keep doing that over and over again as long as you have a reciept
