Any Advice on changing out the Fuel Pump Motor w/o Changing whole assembly?
I see on RockAuto you can buy just the pump for about $55 or the whole assembly for $230.
With a price difference that big, I wanted to get some feedback. If I go this route, I know to change the sock. Do I need to do anything else? I heard That sometimes the internal Wire harness goes bad. Has anyone else heard this? Has anyone else changed out just the pump and used their own sending unit?

wow your sorta stuck. not many pumps available for your year below 230 bucks. oem or i would assume acdelco are best at least i think they are but woh they are really spendy. the wiring harness is like 9 bucks. i opened up the plastic pump bucket/housing and put the pump in place of the stock one then used a plastic welder to put it back together. the cheap pumps usually dont last long so you should use the hatch method to change the pump, way easier to change again.

I took your advice and used the hatch method to just replace the Pump motor. I bought the only one RockAuto sold. Cutting the hatch took the longest time of the job. Removing the locking ring wasn't my favorite part, but the rest went together pretty easily. There are some REALLY helpful videos on YouTube so I had a pretty good idea of what I needed to do. I will let you know how it turns out long term wise.
