Default another problem

I got in my car this morning(94 z28 LT1)and turned the key, my fuel pump primes, sterio and everything comes on as usual then i turn the key to startand... nothing (engine will not turn over, doesnt even try). I turn the key back off and notice my security light is still on and stayed on as far as i know. I tried the new key that i had made for it and it does the same thing. I didnt have much time to mess with it( i am at work right now) Could this be a vats problem? I thought Vats disables the fuel pump. I dont think the battery is run down.I didnt leave anything on. What gets me is the security light stays on. I will check connections when i get home. Any ideas??

I dont have an alarm on the car. And im gonna check connections and for power to the starter and all when i get home. The starter is a new powermaster high torquestarter so i wouldnt think that would be bad. I just dont think the security light would come on and stay on if it were just a bad connection or starter.

In the past few months my car has been doing this too, i have no idea what the problem with it is. I think there is a problem with the wiring some where usually if i wait 2-3 secs and try again it will start. Sometimes it takes more. Its not a vats or aftermarket alarm system problem. I plan on putting a new engine compartment wiring harness in my car sometime this summer when i rebuild the engine and im hoping this fixes the problem.

VATS disables the starter and the fuel injectors. If the security lite is lit, the most likely cause is that the key has a defective or wrong value resistor pellet, poor connection between the key and contacts in the ignition switch, bad wiring between ignition switch and VATS module, bad VATS module, bad wiring between VATS module and PCM.

well i got home from work and it started right up. When it wouldnt start this morning i tried the key i just got made for it a few months ago(which i used before so i know that it works) and it did the same thing. So i dont know...is there a way to eliminate the whole VATSsystem alltogetherother than sending my computer to be reprogrammed.b/c i dont think i can deal with this fluky junk. Iwant to be sure my car is gonna start whenI need it to and not leave me stranded somewhere because of some retarted malfuntioning anti theft device.

ok i just read on shbox.com about how the whole thing is supposed to work and it looks like the module was doing itsjob. the cylinder must be worn out or a bad wire orsomething. And i didnt know that there was a 3 min countdown before i could try again... i was headed to work and i didnt wait around 3 min. i might just try a resister and bypass the cylinder, this should fix my problem.
