Hi all,
Just traded in my ole Supra for a 97 Z28 and have a quick question.

When I put the aircon on I get a loud click then the same every 10-30secs or so (depending on how high/low I set the AC). I assume it's a switch/clutch disengage/re-engage on the compressor but have never heard one this loud on my other cars with AC.

Here's and MP3 of the sound, at 3 secs you'll hear what I think is the dis-engage then at 9 secs the re-engage.

Other than that I love this car! I had a 85 Vette before the Supra but this feels so much faster (but then the Vette was a 120k TPI whereas this is a 26k LT1)

Needs more noise though [] the stock exhaust is whisper quiet.

 

Sounds normal to me. I agree with you that most cars are not that loud when sitting in the car, but that sounded like you were standing by the engine.

 

Ah good to hear.. yeah I was standing at the front with the bonnet open (sorry, "Hood" over your side of the pond ) it's still quite noticeable inside the car at tick over but not once in motion. was worried something might be on it's way out but the AC is still nice and ice cold.

No, it is pretty loud inside the car also. All other vehicles I have owned, you can only hear when next to the engine. What year Supra did you have?

 

it was a 92 MkIII 3.0 non-turbo. Ironically the Z28 does better MPG (which is handy seeing as Gas over here in the UK is now £6/$11 a gallon)

 

$11 a gallon? I think my heart stopped.....
