Default 17" wheels, will it affect anything?

I currently have a v6 2000 camaro with 16" and was hoping to get 17" zr1 wheels but since its a v6 I was wondering how much gas mileage would change (since the engine has to work harder) and if I would have to reset the speedometer

another option if that isnt possible then I was thinking about just getting 235/50/R16 tires or 45 verses the 55 on the rims I have now (chrome 5 star so it wouldnt look too bad). Though, I am not sure how safe that would be since the wheel and tire diameter would be smaller

I found a picture similar to mine and it doesnt look too bad

[edit] sorry just made a link instead
Thank you.

I have the 17"C6 chrome wheels on my 97 Z28, with 275/40/17 tires. The tires are actually the samediameter as the 16" ones that were replaced, so no difference at all, and no adjustment necessary. I have some pics on here, just type "pics of my car" in the search box and look for my name, you should be able to find them. The wheels look really cool, you'll be happy with them. Diameter is what affects your speedometer.

thanks. I just put new drilled slotted rotors on this weekend and painted the calipers red and put white "camaro" decals on the front calipers. They look so good my brother thought I bought the calipers like that..lol. He asked how much I had to pay for those. And actually I just looked, and in the search box you need to type in "pics of my Camaro", not "pics of my car"....just didn't want anyone to be confused. Mine is the white car.
