Default Aftermarket radio quick question.

My 97 camaro has the 6 speaker system (Current factory head says acdelco) and my sub woofers(Factory) are in the rear seat area instead of the back hatch, do I have to do anything special to install an aftermarket HU or do I just get one of those universal chevy wiring kits and its plug and play?

Check one of your speakers first to see if it has one of it's own amps. It'll be part of the speaker itself. If so, you have two options. You can buy this:

Walmart.com: Scosche Ford/JBL and GM/Bose Speaker Level Converter, FAI-3: Auto Electronics

Or, alternatively, buy five new speakers and a sub and cut the wiring where the connector to the original speakers are at and wire your new one's in. The latter is easier to do, if you don't know all too much about car stereo's. I'll get a picture of what I mean tonight for you.

The only way to utilize the original speakers is to get the level converter. Other than that, I don't know of any other way.

Not worth it. I wanna find a way to get an aux in spliced in there but all of the ways I've seen use the cd player and mine is nonfunctional
