Default abs inoperable

My 1996 v6 has the abs inop warning light on, took it to shop and they could not establish link to abs computer and told me to replace abs computer module, which I did. Warning light still on, disconnected battery for over an hour to reset, still on. Any suggestions?

Try another shop or a GM dealer. It is very expensive to fix ABS problems by throwing parts at them.

Agreed. Replacing the ABS module was a fairly large step. And that won't solve the actual problem. You may have a faulty valve body, pump motor, or any other brake related problem.

there are quite a bit of individual parts to an ABS system to just replace part after part. Find a good dealer or shop that has the neessary tools to diagnose the problems. Word of advice....look for a shop that has newer cars in the parking/waiting lot as it is a sign that the shop probably has a good idea as to what is happening in a newer computer controlled car

This may sound stupid but, did you check your third brake light? The middle one? Sometimes if that light is busted it causes the ABS INOP light to come on.
