What do you mean not with an M6?

 

I am not sure what he means but a stock M6 is not going to hold up to 600HP. If you going to be building an engine going thru and rebuilding/beefing up the tranny and installing a new rear why buy a fairly rare low miles car? Those mods will KILL the value of the car. Infact ANYTHING you do to the car that is not 100% stock/original will hurt the value.

Heck you could find a High miles Z28/m6 for 3-4K and use the 6K for the upgrades. Now those same upgrades will increase the value of the cars.

 

Well from what i see the value of these cars are terrible. So if i modded it then a 28k mile car is worth what 7k, thats rediculous. In the 03/04 cobra game low mile cobras modded are still worth big money actually more then stock. To be honest i wouldnt want to dump 10k worth of mods into a high mile car because resale is gona suck.

Motor Boost (how much psi)
Tranny
Fuel setup
And I have known for years these rear ends are total junk

 

The value of a SS camaro with 28,000 miles on it is because this car could be bought by a collector or a show car person. I am not saying they are the only ones that would buy it just their interest keeps this type of car from dorpping too low. Unlike the Cobra you don't get much for the SS, it pretty much cosmedic only. So to a "hot rodder" there is no benifit to the SS.

Let say you buy a low miles SS for 10,000 (which by the way is a very good price)
You then do the mods you want to hit 500hp and it cost you 6K, Now you have remove the chances that a collector or a show car person would even think about it. Lets look at it side by side.

Low miles SS, 10K + 6K mods
A year or so and 10,000 miles later the car is worth $8,500-$9,500
You have lost $7500

High miles Z28 cost $3500 + 7.5K in mods (I added money to uprade the worn items and freshen the motor)

Now you have 500 hp Z28 worth 6K-7K. Most people that buy heavly mods cars are looking for those mods and how recent it was done. Sure low miles on the car will add to the value but not much. Even if the car sells for 6K you have only lost $4500.

I can not speak on Mustangs but I have been around the buying and selling of Camaros fo the last 30 years. Buying one already modded the way you want always cost less. Tearing apart a car that is valuble because it is low miles and original does not make a lot of sense.

For transmission the MN6 T56 is good to about 450 Ft\lbs. There are some that say the rears are not even good enough for the stock HP. The bottom end of the motor is good to about 9 seconds or about 500hp. You should upgrade the oil pump. It is a weak point.

 

The T-56 Magnum is rated to withstand 700 ft-lbs of torque at a price of about $2900.
