Default 99 Hugger orange SS (good deal?)

I have the oppurtunity to buy a 99 ss 6spd with 28k miles all original for 10k is this a good deal. I always been a mustang guy and don't know much about the camaro market. And if i did buy this would it be easy to resell because of the color down the road.

Sounds like a great deal with that mileage. And Im not 100% sure, but hugger orange brings a bit of a premium. And I would say resale might be easier because of the color.... BUT, you might not want to sell it after you own it for a while.

Double check it's a true SS. Could be a regular Z badged as a SS. I doubt it, but people do it. WU8 should be some where on the drivers door and any SLP options on the passenger. '99 was the first year Hugger Orange was added to the line up of colors so it's a bit rarer.

What color is the interior?

Before I bought my ws6 I looked at a 99 Hugger Orange SS with white leather interior, ~40kish miles and they were asking $14k; much too high for that car.

10k is a great deal on a low mile, M6 LS1 car.

Click on the link you just created. This site has a VIN decoder. According to it, it's actually a re-branded Z28

Cloth interior i think it was black/gray maybe. It is a t-top car. Car is pristine a 60 year old guy owns it.It's been sitting for a year because he bought a new stang. By the way i'm coming from a 600rwh whippled cobra what mods are needed to keep up with that.

All SS cars are Z28's. The SS "trim" level is actually just a package and the car is therefore still a Z28, just with a special package.

To be honest I could not recommend to you specifics on how to achieve 600rwhp. There are so many ways and variables with the LS platform that its hard to choose what you want to do. The most common setups are usually just a mild cam and good set of heads, which usually will yield 400-450 rwhp without issue.

I would peruse this section of LS1tech:

Dynamometer Results & Comparisons - LS1TECH

and see what setups you like best. There are other subforums there dedicated to forced induction and naturally aspirated setups for you to consider as well.

I can confirm, however, that you will need to replace the rear end; its just a given. Stock rear end is a flimsy 10 bolt that will fail under stock power levels. Putting a 12 bolt or Ford 9" is the way to go and is actually relatively easy and cheap on these cars to do.

What FD said. That is why I provided the RPO code you want to look for.

If you're looking for 600 rwhp, that rear end (as FD all ready mentioned) needs to go. However, I would skip on the 12 bolt if this car is gonna see a good amount of track time and shoot straight for a 9 in or S60. There is a gentleman by the name of Steven Mashburn who was featured in Hot Rod magazine with a '99 SS M6 (non-t-topped) where it only made 317 HP and 350 lb-ft of torque at the wheels and he broke a 12 bolt. He runs mid 11s all day long with the only mods being headers, LS6 intake, LS6 valve springs, 4.56 rear gears, battery relocation, drag radials, a tune, and weight reduction that brings him down to 3100lbs w/ a quarter tank of gas and no driver.

Pretty much what I'm saying is, with a M6 and a few mods, even a 12 bolt isn't enough if it sees a good amount of track use.
