Default 98 ls1 camaro starting issue

im going to look at a 98 camaro with an ls1 and 6 spd sunday and the guy tells me that the car sometimes has a starting issue that he just has to "prime the fuel pump" by turning the switch on and off a few times to get it to start and other times it starts instantly. he said it is some kind of common problem with camaro fuel pump wiring that they dont get enough voltage to start. to me it kind of sounds like a fuel pressure regulator going out. what do you guys think and what else should i look for that could give me problems on the car? it has 90k on it. thanks

Well it's one of two things. Either a fuel pump, or FPR. I'm banking on the fuel pump being bad.

Don't forget the fuel filter. Regardless of if its the problem it should be replaced as maintenance.

most likely the fuel pump. changing the fuel pump is not that big of a deal if you do the hatch method. you may be able to talk him down on the price quite a bit if you work it and if its a nice car, come out of it with a great deal. check the car out though, if he is pointing somewhere it may be he doesnt want you to look somewhere else.
