Default 97 z28 traction control ASR

I want to know how to remove the ASR on my 97 z28.
I bought the ram air hood and air cleaner assembly. and the ASR is in the way . can I replace the throttle cable from a pre ASR LT1 Camaro?

I was under the impression that GM ASR in 1997 worked be retarding the timing and that you have a real throttle cable? There is a second cable from the Cruise control.

If you do have DBW (Drive By Wire) removing it would be a huge project. You would need the complete computer system (PCM & Harness) and the whole throttle assembly off a car that did not have DBW. In cars that the computer controls the throttle the system just opens the throttle to make it idle. On system without have separate IAC motors. That means different wiring and programs.

Usually ASR will pulse the rear brakes first to regulate wheel spin. It then retards spark and closes the throttle if needed. Moving that box off the valve cover shouldn't be too hard. You'd just lose ASR in the respect of the throttle close out. I do believe that you lose ABS if you lose ASR. But yes, you can replace just the cable. You would have to grab the cable for cruise control if you want to keep that.

I might not need to remove the ASR , This is an RK Sport hood and air cleaner assembly. for the 94-97 Camaro LT1.
Has any one used these before? has anyone installed one of these?

I guess i'll just have to try to install it and see if it fits.

I am not sure how ASR can be in the way?! A photo please?

You might want to get one of these while you're thinking ASR... http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sle-63015

Part of the ASR for the LT1 sits on the drivers sad valve cover pretty much where the LT4 intake would spin up around. My M6 has it and the only reason I know it's the ASR is because the car doesn't have factory cruise control

Yes it is on the drivers side valve cover, and I am trying to use the aircleaner that sits there and crosses over the intake plenum.
your M6 had both ? the ASR and the LT4 intake?

No, just ASR. I know from seeing photos that the LT4 air box comes up around on the drivers valve cover. But I'm not 100 percent sure it would hit the ASR box.
