Default 96 Camaro not starting

Just happened yesterday. I parked it that night, came out the next day to start it and it wont turn over. Got a new battery, and put in new ignition switch and starter relay. When you turn the key the fuel pump comes on and everything like it should, but when you go to start it the car doesnt turn over. Heres the thing....i can manually jump across the starter with a screwdriver and the car will start and run for about 6 seconds till the fuel runs out. I noticed today that when the key is in the on position the security light stays flashing and ive not noticed it every doing that before. (It doesnt have an alarm remote, or even an alarm for that matter). any ideas????? Also i can turn the headlights on and when u try to start it, the lights dont even dim or anything...its like there is no power from the ignition to the starter and ive checked all the starter wires.

Does it click? Kinda sounds like a solenoid problem to me?

If the security lite is lit it means there is a problem with the VATS (vehicle Anti Theft) system, which is standard factory. You could have a bad pellet on the key, bad VATS contacts in the ignition switch , wiring problem between ignition switch and VATS module , bad VATS module, bad wiring between module and PCM. The key is the usual culprit, so try a spare key first and spray some contact cleaner in the key opening in the lock.

it was the cylinder. the wire that goes from it to the VATS was bad. Car is running again. thats to all for the help and info. FYI..i didnt get a new cylinder i just purchased a resistor with the same resistance as the one in the key and bypassed that whole system..thx again.
