Default 96 base model to z28 conversion

So I have a 96 3.8 v6 and I want to convert it to a Z28. (I know it's a whole different motor /Trans. Etc.) Anyways, I was looking for a Z28 to buy However , the prices for all of them were outrageous, considering miles and the problems most of them had ( ranging form Broken trans, blown motor to starting issues, inability to smog, or broken rear axle) I mean a guy was asking $5000 for his 95 6 speed and it had problems with the the whole drive train that he couldn't figure out let alone have the money for the shops to figure out (so he said -_-) anywho I'm looking for some tips on converting my base model to the z28 , like where should I start . And what would be the best route to go, thanks In advance

From what I've read on v6-v8 swaps, if money is an issue its not a good idea. Meaning it's not cheaper to do a v6-v8 swap over buying a v8 and fixing it up.

Where are you from?

Surely v8 4th Gens aren't that hard to come by..Even here in New Zealand where we drive on the opposite side they are relatively easy to come by. Financially it doesn't seem to make sense to convert a v6...

if your engine is toast a 3.8 4th gen is not that expensive to replace. i am always on the lookout for a nice 4th gen with a blown 3.8 for cheap.
