What you are doing is one of the more difficult swaps. The problem is the 93 has a Pre OBD computers system. It is basically the same system GM used through the 80's. The computer is call a ECM. (Engine Control Module). In 1994 GM switch to a system called OBD, with that the computer was then called a PCM (Powertrain Control Module). The two systems where pretty different. In 1995 GM switched to a OBD1.5 and then in 1996 it became OBD2. There is very little that is the same from 1993 to 1996. You have a choice make everything the 96 wiring or make everything 93. I am talking about the dash cluster and all the wiring. Just about every wire in the car except the headlights.
The real killer is your 1996 has a body control module is controlled by the 1996 PCM. Your donor 93 ECM has no connection to this and the body control module controls AC/Heat Power windows, door locks.... pretty much everything but the lights.
In all swaps the instrument cluster needed.
3.4/3.8 V6 to LT1
With LS1's there are people that make custom harnesses but I do not know of anyone making them for LT1s.

This thread give you an idea on what is needed to do a truck engine swap the right way without a donor car. With what these cars cost now I would not call it cheap.

IMO Your only cheap option to get your car back on the road is to go back to the 3800. The 3800's are cheap and everywhere. We have seen people find motor for with under 40k for less then $500. What most people don't know is you can put a front wheel drive 3800 in a camaro if you just use the long block and those GM made up till 2009.
