95 Firebird
I've been coming to this site for a few years now and the forums have helped me solve countless problems I've had with my Camaro. I'm not sure why it took me until now to make an account but I'm looking for some help regarding a firebird I picked up not long ago. Here's the situation. I went and bought this 1995 Firebird with the 3.8L and stupidly put 2000 miles on it in about 24 hours. I was about an hour away from home and it started acting up and I went on here and it everything seemed to be acting as though my fuel pump went bad and driving the car so far after it sitting for a month or so, it made sense. It sat for about another month before I changed the fuel pump but after doing so when I went to start it, smoke was coming out of the exhaust as well as a little out of where the oil dipstick is. All fluid levels are were fine and there was no indication of oil and coolant being mixed. Its been a couple months now since it happened and eventually want to do an engine swap but for now I just want my baby up and running again but I'm stumped. Any advice and help is greatly appreciated.
what color was the smoke and did you smell it to see what it smelled like? try pulling dip stick and smell oil to find out if it smells of gas. pull spark plugs to see how they look. smoke could be oil, water or gas.
smoke was white which makes me think head gasket and I could smell gas
