Hmmm....never tried that one. That would make the engine run backwards then.
Seriously tho, the arrow indicates the direction of air flow.
Think you stumbled upon your stumble problem.

Ok, very frustrated with this! Now I have done more research & found out it can be my vatts? Also noticed my beeping when key is in ignition has gotten very low in sound, could barely here it. Gonna clean my key, if that doesn't work gonna try & bypass the vatts

I thought your engine was still able to start and run?
When activated, the VATS disables the starter and the fuel injectors. So when turning the key to start, your engine will be dead.
Even if you were to hot-wire the starter, the engine wouldn't fire up. Also, the security light in the dash will be lit. Is this what you're getting now?

VATS is not recognizing the key.
First attempt to start, no starter action.
Remove key and wait min 3 minutes.
Then next start attempt, VATS will allow engine to start and run.
Drive to where you go, start over again with 3 minute wait.
If the above happens, then key tumbler needs replacement.
Go to any GM dealer with registration and key, get a new tumbler.
Remove steering wheel, combo handle, lock plate, and turn signal, and replace tumbler.
You aill need a T25 or T30 bit to remove the screw holding the tumbler.
Unhook the white wires at column connector and tie a string to them to pull the new wires back down the column.
Watch combo switch harness routing and ensure the harness is in its clips preventing harness from being snagged under the lock plate. Reassemble.

vats will not shut a running motor off. i would think its a wiring issue but could be wrong. intermittent issues are the toughest to find. could also be multiple issues.

Alright, so I finally gave in and took my car to a mechanic. First they told me something about my SECURITY light being on all the time so they bypassed it using a resistor. They thought that was it and when I picked it up the car finally decided not to start, so they started checking under the hood....to make a long story short they sprayed water on the ICM to cool it off and it started, so they figured it was the ICM...started & all that but on the way home during hard acceleration and downshifting ( havent drove my car in a while so I wanted to have some fun) ..it started shutting off AGAIN!!....but will start right up???? It will jerk back on acceleration and shut off??? can anyone help?

Looks like you need to start carrying a bucket of water with you.
I don't get it, they poured water on the ICM and said "problem fixed, have a good day"?
I thought you took your car to the mechanic to get it "fixed".

no, the ICM gets hot and shuts off the car so thats how he diagnosed it?? and he put a new ICM and it started right up. They also checked the ignition coil. Now the car starts but shuts off but it restarts right up???
