94 Cmaro V6 sputter?
I purchased this car about three months ago. It has ran just fine up until now. It has always taken a second or two to crank. Now, once started, it will sputter a bit and a heavy sputter if I get on it. Toying with the peddle will get me on down the road though. After about three miles or so everythings seems fine. No sputter and I can get on it fine. Can any of you guys help me with this. I use this car to comute back and forth to work. Oh and BTW, I live in south GA and the temp was in the 70's when I bought the car it now reaches the 100's, but my problem happens at all times of the day.

Okay, I capped off the EGR valve using a coke can and presto, no sputter. I only went a mile or so down the road, but it hasn't run that well since I bought it. Now it did make a pop once when I got on it. Idk, maybe a backfire, it has a flowmaster on it. I did not notice anything else.
Question, is it safe for the engine to leave capped until I can hunt down a good used EGR?

there are a couple 94s being parted out on this site. may have one. try posting in the for sale section what u are looking for. egr is for polution control. should be ok.

good to hear that you traced it to the egr is it trowing a code? check it, mine was a stuck pintle i took some brake cleaner to it and no more problems make sure u get every nick and cranny, i think it just wont pass smog with a capped egr but dont quote me on that

The sputter is back. Like I said, capped the EGR and ran it a few miles, everything seemed fine. Then I ran it two or three miles the next morning and it was fine. Come lunch time I get in it to head to town and it goes to sputtering again. Just like before, after a few miles everything is smooth. I have noticed it idleing rough and low now. IDK. I can't figure it out.
If anyone has anymore suggestions, please feel free to share. Thanks.

by capping off your egr when your cruising your car opens the egr to cool the cylinders down and to reduce nox emmisions when u delete the egr you cylinder temp rises and could cause detonation due to overly hot cylinders and your cars emissions goes down the tubes but if the car is cold and drove in stop and goe traffick you wouldnt notice it cause the egr wouldnt be open i suggest get a new egr valve and slap one on i run a parts store andcould see iff i could get ya a good deal one one
