93 z28 tie rods
I just took my 93 Z28 to geta safety inspection and I found out that the left outer tie rod is loose, so it failed. A local dealership wants $300 to fix it but I'd rather save the money if I can do it myself because I priced the tie rods and they are very affordable, my only concern is the install. I'm pretty good working with my hands and I was wondering if it was a job I could do at home in my own garage, or if it would be better to take it to the dealer and have them do it. I figure I might as well replace all of them while I'm under there. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
You can purchase the complete set for about $180. If the tie rod has failed then I'm pretty sure the rest of the bushings are not to far behind. Yes you can do this in your garage but you'll need a vice to press the the a-arm bushings in place (use a little grease) and you can rent the tie rod tool from Autozone. Have fun.
