hi i need help. i have a 93 z28 camaro. i am trying to hook up an after market cd player. i have the gm aftermarket radio harness and kit. my question is i have the aftermarketcd playerhook up and install what is troubling me is that the radio comes on but it the am and fm has sound but when i put a cd in the cd plays but no sound. at first i thought it was the cd player. i hook the aftermarket cd player up in another car and the cd player work. so what could the problem be. i have hook this same cd player up in my 95 camaro it worked. any help would be appriciated.

 

Are you sure you got the right harness? Also is every single wire on the radio hooked to the harness.. I hook up everything even if I think its something I dont need. I really dont know man I'm just trying to think of what it can be.

 

well you know what i removed this same cd player with the aftermarket wire harness from my 95 saturn so this could be the problem. i will go and but the correct wire harness to a 93 camaro and see if that works thanks.

 

I am using the correct wiring harness but I have a question regarding extra wires?

I know that grey, purple, green and white are for the speakers.

Black, blue, red and yellow are ground, power antennae, power, accessory respectively.

I have two orange wires from the factory radio? On my aftermarket radio there is 1 orange wire but it is for illumination. What am I supposed to do? Do I hook up the two orange wires (factory) together to the aftermarket orange wire (harness)? Are the orange wires for the speaker in the rear of the trunk?

 

No the orange is just for the illum. As far as your cd player goes it has me puzzled because if you have sound with the radio you should have sound with the cd player?? The only thing I could think would be the cd but im sure you tried that already????

 

I was told by a buddy (installer) of mine to just wrap up the orange wires and not use the. I did and everything works fine with the radio (including the rear speaker in the trunk).

My iPod does not work however. I tried troubleshooting the iPod but no luck. I have an Alpine deck. It reads the iPod fine but just won't play any volume.

He 's right !......I never use it!! I just tape it and stuff it out of the way
