Default 93-97 RS 3.8 Cold Air Intake DIY

Hopefully most of you have been having trouble finding decent performance parts for your 93-97.
Well I got tired of looking and decided to take a stroll down pick-a-part lane.
well while scrapping for parts in the Camaro section. I saw a new addition to the lot.
It was a 94 Camaro 3.4.
As I was taking a look to see what would I be able to scrap off of her. I saw she still had her intake.
I said screw it!! I ripped off the intake that bolted onto the radiator and of course a few fuses and wires and hoses.
I got home and found out the intake tubing wouldn't fit like a normally should. So I start shoving it into places it shouldn't be.
So here is how it works.
Take out your air filter box, the stupid restricted 6' pipe, then take out the light plastic air flow direction box to clear out the cavity where the air filter once lived.
Now on the 3.4 air intake there is a hard plastic peace on it with two bolt wholes in it.
You want that peace facing down when you install it.
Now when your installing this your going to think it work work, you won't be able to get the boots back on the intake, but it will take some time and TLC but it will eventually fit. So here is a somewhat, step by step picture break down.
I will have the special specs for the K&N Air filter I had to order to fit on it.

RIP OUT THE CAVITY TO THE BOTTOM RIGHT

thats not doing any good since you left the most restricted part.

why didnt you go with an ebay cold air intake form ebay seller chromeintakes, most common intake used for the 95-97 3.8 and the cheapest.

You just made a HOT air intake. You dont want your fliter to be in the engine bay out in the open. You need to have a shroud around the back side of the filter to seal off the engine bay heat, or put the filter element down in that hole where the factory snorkle used to hang down into. While the factory intake on the early 4th gens was a little restrictive it also was a true cold air system.

Oh and you left the most restrictive part of the intake system on your engine. That silencer is what causes the most restriction. Look how Fbodyrs's intake looks, his is a low restriction cold air intake.
