Default 93 3.4l Radiator fan issues

Hello, to start my camaro is overheating at stop and low speeds, due to radiator fan malfunctioning. Recently ive replaced the thermostat, temp switch, and exchanged the coolant.
After replacing my a/c compressor and harmonic balancer(probly nothing to due with problem), the fan was not turning on at all, with defroster or a/c turned on did not help. I checked all fuses under hood and dash. So i replaced the fan relay, didnt do anything, so i jumped the the relay board and the fan kicked on.
So from here i have no idea what to do, i do not want to have the fan hard wired, so i want to diagnose the actual problem. If it helps, the geniuses at kragen gave me a generic 5pin relay, but the pins matched and the numbers matched so i assumed it would be an adequate replacement.
Is there supposed to be a specific fan relay or is a generic one fine?
Is it possible there is a different problem elsewhere, cuz i feel ive checked all the components involved with the functionality of the fan?

Thanks for any help.
Quinn

Fan motors? Might want to look at replacing them/it.

If you can jump the relay then the problem is before the relay. Check the wiring to the temp switch. Also make sure that your car is filled completely with coolant. Run the car cold and fill up coolant. Turn off car and fill up again. Then let it cool and run again. Fill up till you cant fill up no more. Don't go by the overfill tank because that wont read the full car coolant level. If your car doesn't have enough coolant then your switch wont get coolant to tell it that it's hot. A bad water pump will cause your car to overheat and will also cause some cars to not engage the switch because once again your switch is not getting coolant. Rare but still possible. Install a temporary manual switch and let the car run. If the car still overheats then its something else causing it to overheat which is causing problems with your switch.

Well, like i said, the fan motor is good cuz i could get it to start by jumping the relay, coolant is totally full, this problem arised recently months after the coolant exchange, radiator is full and reservoir is full, temp switch is new. Idk what the problem is, maybe ill go get another relay just to confirm it is ot a defect.

if you run into over heating again b4 you get this fixed just turn your heat on full blast it will help cool the motor down some
also overheating = blown head gaskets just to warn you

did you run the car with the fan on and see if it still overheated?

Default Cooling fan relay issue

I am having a similar issue with my 94 3.4.

My cooling fan would not come on so to test the relay I switched it with the ac compressor relay. The fan works with the ac fan relay so I assumed that the relay is bad. The problem is that the new relay from my nearest auto parts store does not work. So just to double check I put the ac compressor fan relay back in. The fan works. I went to the dealer and purchased the AC Delco replacement but it does not work either. Any ideas why the new relay are not working? I am ready to hit the junk yard for some relays.
