Hello, i have done some searching, but didnt come across a write up for the ever-so-common automatic to manual swap.
basically, i am using a Gen 1 SBC in my 96. I wont need to worry about any computer controls. So the only thing i have question for pertains to the clutch master cylinder, and shifter location.
i have experience turning automatic cars to manual. i did it to my honda civic, and it was smooth as butter. there was already mounting locations for the clutch master C on the firewall and everything else bolted right up like it was supposed to be in the car. beautiful, and works great![Smile](https://camaroforums.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I am 160 miles away from my Chevy, so i cannot look myself, but, is there a grommeted mounting location for the clutch master cylender in all 4th gen camaro firewalls? or, is the clutch on 6-speed Z28's cable operated?
also, will i need to create a hole in da floor for the shifter?
any othre things i should know before considering such a swap?
thanks ya'll

Cable actuated NO, Mounting hole Not that I have ever seen but locating it should not be too hard. There are marks and maybe holes where the fluid resevour will go. Hole in the floor no the cars come with a tranny tunnel for manual or auto but again locating the right spot will not be too hard you will just have to do it from underneath. Make sure you get a T56 Xmember and not a T5 one. They ARE different.

Around me a good T56 with all the trimings sells for about $1200. Fparts on ebay gets them every once in a while.
