Default 4th Gen Camaro variations

Well, I am looking to purchase my first camaro as something to play around with and enjoy driving. I have had several things (a 95 mustang at one point, 74 RoadRunner with a 360, various trucks, and currently have a 88 Toyota 4Runner 4x4 as my daily driver). I'd like something that gets 25+ mpg which I have heard a v6 camaro 5sp can easily get on the interstate. My question is this, are there any "weak" years in the 4th Gen. Motor differences that cause more issues in one year than another? I'm gunning for a 98 as it is more in my price range and I like the body style. Suggestions or any information to pass onto someone in the market?

The 98's LS1 are able to give you 25mpg on the highway. Are you looking for a V8 or a V6?

Sorry it's taken a while for a reply, work is trying to kill my *** it seems. I was prolly going to gun for a v6 as I was expecting better gas mileage from it. Not aimming for pure horsepower and engine at the moment. Eventually I'll pick up another classic muscle car for that. Really surprised the LS1s can hit 25mpg though. I really like the 98 and up body style but would not argue with anything that is the right price, hoping to find something 3.5k-4k.

My Z28 with an auto gets 25 on the highway, so with a 6-speed you can easily get that. Pretty much any 4th Gen Camaro is going to give you those numbers. City is going to be a bit different though.

6spds do get better if your driving it right. I just started driving my 93 lt1 z28 and it's a 6spd and I'm having too much fun w/ the wide torque band it has, to really get good gas mileage. But yeah it's capable of 25+mpg hwy easily especially if it's tuned.

Well I am keeping my eye out in my area. I was hoping to find something close to Ms and wouldn't have to fly over to Florida or Texas. My really only must haves are power accessories (never have had a vehicle with them since everything I had was in the antique truck or antique muscle range) and manual trans. T-tops would be nice but don't have to have one. Reasonable to find a 98 v6 for around $4k-4.5?
