4l60e Question
Quick question.
I'm replacing my trans out of my 95 z28, and I read somewhere where in 95 the 4l60e had some weird difference that year. So my question is, would I be able to replace it with another year? Anyone know what the differences are?
Thanks.

Make sure that you get it from a Camaro or Firebird. You do not want one out of a truck or other car.
You should be able to use the 4L60E from a '94-'97 I believe. I don't think that GM made (m)any changes to the F-Body 4L60E during those years.

I took a look at the parts pdf right after the initial post appeared. The GM reman unit is different each year for 94, 95, 96, and 97. So as far as GM is concerned you need a 95 transmission.
Salvage yards, however, use something called the Hollander Interchange Manual. That book tells them what parts are close enough in function to fit and work properly. The guys at Hollander do extensive research each year to see what part numbers have changed for the major components on all cars. It's a HUGE job.
If you call any large salvage yard they can tell you what "The Hollander" says will work. Whether they *will* tell you is another issue.
