Default 3rd, 4th Gen. vs. 5th Gen.

Is it just me, or do most current 4th gen owners prefer the look and styling of the F-body camaros over the new generation?

I appreiciate what they've tried to recapture w/the new camaro and remember the days of those cars from the 70's running around, (so no spring chicken) but they just seem too big to be considered a sports car...
Personally, I think it's more of a sport sedan and they don't cry out sports car when you see one.

I don't think I'm biased either just because I own a 2001, cause I just bought it this spring, but when you look at these cars side by side they just don't compare.

No they dont compare. I think they both look great but the 2010 looks more muscle than anything. I love both looks, I just wish that the 2010 was an f-body.

I personally like the 4th gen over the 5th gen. I've said it many times before and I'll say it again. The 5th gen's interior looks terrible IMO.

I agree with carnage9, it's just not really an apples to apples comparison. I think the biggest reason the 5th gen doesn't seem like a "sports car" is because it isn't one. It's a muscle car. It's big, brash, powerful, and 100% in-your-face. If you've driven one (and I'm going to guess you haven't), you'll know this to be the case.

IMO the 4th gen is more of a muscle car than the 5th gen. The 5th gen is much more sophisticated in ride and handling than the 4th gen and it is also built on a sedan's chassis. Driving the 4th gen is like driving a poor man's Dodge Viper.

so by your definition of "muscle car," there are none currently being produced. The 5th gen's improvements in ride and handling are the difference between a modern muscle car and a 10-year-old muscle car (i.e., a 4th gen). If you do a bunch of suspension work on your 4th gen so it handles like a dream, does it cease to be a muscle car?

Have you ever driven a Viper??? Didn't think so. Neither have I, but that's why I don't go throwing around outlandish claims like that.

Fair enough, you make a good point...
and no, I haven't driven one, I wasn't impressed enough w/it to go thru the trouble of test driving one. It's such a hassle sometimes...

In my opinion, the 4th gens look sleek, fast and sexy. They look like they are moving when parked.

The 5th gens on the other hand, look like an MMA fighter. Tough, strong, big and a bruiser.

I think that the 4th gens were the last of the poor man's vettes, IMO. The newer cars, while they look good, just don't seem to capture that sweet, sexy look that the 4th gens have.
