Default 3.8 and 5.7 air intake

i'm wondering is there a big difference between the air intake of a 3.8 and a 5.7? like what would keep a 5.7 air intake set up from fitting on a 3.8?

Why not just purchase an aftermarket one?

What years are we talking about?

i'm thinking about getting an after market one that's why i want to know because they say its meant for a 5.7 but they don't make one for the 3.8 and its a 2000 camaro. i'm talking about replacing the filter box with something such as volant or K&N
