Default 3.4 reliability?

How reliable of a motor is the 3.4 liter? Do they have the gasket problems common with other gm v-6 engines? I'm thinking of selling my '97 grand prix gt for a 3.4 camaro, a 3.8 camaro would be nice but I finally plan on going to college this winter so I probably wouldn't have enough money for a 96+.

I have a 95 3.4 with 170,000 miles on it. I replaced the alternator, clutch and the battery. Tires and brakes as well but everything is stock. Runs like a champ, no smoking, chatter. The rear main seal is the only place where I get an occational drip. I go the 3000 miles between oil changes and only go down 1/4 quart. I can't say enough about how happy I am with the car!. James

The 3.4 is just about as reliable as most any other engine, it all depends how it was taken care of. Earler on there was an intake gasket problem, as the gasket material was not compatible with Dex Cool antifreeze. But if the gaskets are still good after 10+ years, I wouldn't be concerned about it.
