2.73s aren't bad for the V8...not sure on the V6 though. From what I've read and gathered through magazines and online articles, 3.23s are the best for street/strip car. They give great acceleration but don't suck on gas too much.

i have heard similar statements about 3.23/3.43s except that 3.73s are better if you have an around town car... personally i can see mathematically why that should be true, but i don't know that I'm buying in for that one.

I've never seen 2.73 on a v8 so i have no say there...

I had a peg leg 2:73 rear in my 79 Z28... It SUCKED!! I installed a posi 3:73 and it felt like a whole different car and worked much better with my 2400 stall converter.

If you had a T56 (double overdrive), 3.73's would be a no-brainer. Guess you gotta figure what's best for you based on how much highway driving you do.
It doesn't appear as though you baby your car much (going light on the right foot), so gas mileage might be secondary (or thirdendary) to you.

he cares more about the sound his tires make when hes lighting them up than the fuel econ lol

BasicC you're right. Fuel mileage is not a factor in this game lol. Whether I get 15mpg or 30mph, I love seeing that smoke and smelling those tires!
