Question 2500rpms stuck?

My car is driving but it is getting hung up around 2500rpms and just slowly speeds up. It also feels to hang on the shifts because the rpms get max at 2500 sit there for awhile and shift or i have play with the gas pedal. When I place the car in reverse I get a real heavy rattle until shift into another gear. Beside the fact that I need tires and adjustments the car seems to be ok.....but thats not ok!

throttle position sensor plugged in right? make sure you have all the throttle cables hooked up right, look for vacumm leaks or hoses not hooked up.

Everything seems to be in order, plugs are proper and all hoses are connected, but I can't seem to find a place to tell me exactly how the throttle cables go...... I may have them in the wrong position, i have no way of knowing......

It's sort of raining at the moment, but as soon as I can I will post a picture of my throttle body and my cables

If you think it is a throttle related issue the first thing I would do is disconnect everthing from the throttle linkage and see if it move freely. If not
you have a throttle body issue. If it does move freely then reconnect one cable at a time to figure out which one is causing the issue.

Most of the time when someone calls me and says the engine will not go over X number of RPMs its a pluged cat. I have seen pinched cables and damaged throttle bodies on rare occation.

What about water in the oil! I drove it about 90miles before i checked the oil fill, my dipstick showed clean oil but my driver head is wet and suddsy. It seems to smell like gas here and there. My oil fill cap has a frothy mix with bubbles on it. idk im just trying to see if it can be fixed or should i get a new motor. I have to try my best to fix it, if possible.

If the oil on the stick is clean and you are seeing foam and crap in the valve covers it is not something to worry to much about. The foam is a syptom of water (not coolant) getting trapped in the motor. This can be caused ny a bad PCV valve or just by driving the car on short trips in a area with high humidity. If your oil looks like coffee your screwed.

Sounds to me like you should get the car check out by a good mechanic, the hard part is finding a good mechanic. there are a lot of people out there that call themselfs mechanics and they are not.
