My 2000 camaro is shaking when idle. I'm not sure what it is. Can any of you help me out

 

Have it scanned for Misfire codes. Watching the Misfire Monitor in live data helps a lot if you have a "Multiple Misfire" Code PO300
Check Motor Mounts & Trans Mount.

 

Unless you have some serious mechanical damage, excessive shaking at idle is the result of misfire. Could be either ignition or fuel problem. But it is easier to check out the ignition first. Multiple random misfires are usually the result of a lean fuel condition, while hard single cylinder misfires could be due to ignition or injector problem. Use a scanner to get to a logical starting point and avoid trying to fix things that aren't broken.

 

I had a misfire issue a couple of weeks ago on my 01 v6, if you don't have a cel yet you need to get it scanned to see if you can pick up any pending codes. My android tablet with torque pro connected via my bafx bluetooth obd2 scan tool was able to detect the pending p0305 code before the cel was triggered. If it's a single cylinder misfire get a spark tester, mine was 8 bucks at oreilly. Pull the wire off the plug, connect the tester to the wire and have someone crank it. If you get spark then test the plug, if you don't get spark then remove the wire from the coil and repeat the test at the coil. If you get spark the wire is bad, if not then replace the coil. Also, check the coils for corrosion, they can still spark but voltage output can be affected. On mine I broke the plug wire trying to get it off and had the set replaced under warranty and replaced the coils since they had corrosion, especially the back coil that goes to 1 and 4 (how that thing wasn't causing a misfire I'll never know) and also the plug even though it only had about 15k on it (only a few bucks so what the hell right). Since installing the new coils, wires and plugs the difference has been amazing.
