1999 convertible top won’t close
The top opens just fine and pump sounds strong. When I try to close it, it looks like it just barely is trying to close but doesn’t have enough power. I can close it manually. Thanks for any advice!
The first thing I would do is check the fluid. I believe the owners manual shows how.
I should have added that if the top is low on fluid, you need to use a straight 10w oil to refill it. The service manual states to use ATF, but a later service bulletin corrected that recommending the 10W oil instead. I found a squeeze bottle works the best to add the oil. It wouldn't hurt to check for leaks in the lines, either.

Odd! I have a 2001 and my top will close but will not open. I drove it last night and opened the top manually. When i went into the garage this morning there was a puddle of oil under the driver side rear wheel. I checked where the pump was at an it's leaking somewhere, I have no idea where. I'm assuming the lines that the pump uses to open the top are leaking or cracked. You may have the same issue just in reverse! Let me know what you come up with please !!
