Default 1998 Camaro Z28 1LE 1577 original miles

Curious what others think it would be worth? obviously whatever someone else is willing to pay but yeah, 1LE package with monsoon audio package, 6speed. Literally not 1 spot on this car anywhere at all, EVERYTHING original, the car was washed once ever, no one has ever sat in passenger seat or back seat. Also, anyone know where I can find the numbers on the 1le?

According to the CamaroZ28.com site, there were no 1LE's built in 1998. Have you checked the Service Parts Tag on the driver door to verify the 1LE RPO? Here's a link to the production numbers from the Camaro Z28 site.

I did a little more research this mourning looking at the Camaro White Book. It lists 99 Camaros built with the 1LE RPO in 1998. Don't know which numbers are correct, I always assumed they would have had the same source. These two production publications also differ on how many BC4 were built. The Camaro Z28 site says 0 and the Camaro White Book says 239. Again, I would check the Service Parts Tag for the 1LE RPO. If it's there, the car probably came equipped with the option.

Its on there, and I have the original window sticker for it, and it shows the suspension package(1LE) but yeah 1577 miles on it, friend bought it for 25k, I think it could be worth something like 30k, but if he were to wait to sell it for another 10 years, i think it would be 40k easy since the generation that loves these cars will be older and interested.

Sounds nice but why did you post in the LT1/LT4 section?

There is no way to predict future value. I have seen very knowledgeable collectors try to predict future valve of rare cars and fail absolutely. 4th gens have been declining is value and they where not popular cars when they where new. Keep in mind GM could not sell the 98-02 camaros even though the engineering was so far ahead of it's primary competitor. The car still needs stored and maintained for a very long time. You can buy low miles 3rd gen LE1 cars for less then it cost to store and maintain them for last 30 years and GM had trouble making those cars fast enough for demand.

The point I am making is buy and maintain it because you love it, Keep the "it's a great investment" stuff for the wife but assume it will cost you money. Heck even if you had no storage and maintenance costs 40K in 10 years on a 25k investment is less then 5% a years. That's like Grandma investing

Cost of owning a car Per year
Insurance:
Inspection:
Space (you may have a garage but there is still value in that space you are giving up)
Battery
Belts, hoses
All fluids age
Seals in brakes and possible transmission

If you are lucky its $600 a year over 10 years. If you have to pay for a storage place that is more like $1500.

Don't get me started on how ugly it can get if life throws you a curve ball and you need to sell the car right away in January.

pleace tell me it was a dealer that seen your friend comeing not a private sale. 25k he paid way to much. now like 10k 12k would be a deal, 25k was no deal ,there not that rare yet ,an its not an ss either ,i seen a 2002 le1 ss this winter sell for $5500.00 with 60k miles ,it was to far of a ride for me,but thats a deal,at 30k they wil be selling for a long time ,one can buy a nice 5th gen used for 25k an ss too,why does everyone think there car is worth so much money MSRP was 20k,98 ss at kelly blue book has private sale value of $6700.00 i was surprized to with 1500 miles 3% ex shape ,but like gorn has been saying the 4th gens have taken hit ,with 6th gen out ,,wil someone pay more yes ,but your friend should shop alot harder next time an check the value ,i seen a 2002 ss le1 with a superhcharger makeing 500HP+ sell for 20k with 9000 miles on it ,no le1 for 98 was 99,give me 25k an could go out buy 3 ss cars for under 25k, with less then 100k on each car for real, you can get 2015 sting ray with 20 k miles for that wont sell in his life time for then he paid ,unless you find that one in a million buyer ,its the truth everything i am saying among others ,
