I was so paranoid in high school about my car sitting in the parking lot. We had so many bad drivers at my high school. I used to come back to my Camaro with another car parked next to it with only about a foot of space between both cars. Driving into and out of the parking lot was scary and I always had to watch out when driving in reverse. I'm still like this when I park my car at my college.

to clear everything up...i said 1969 camaro would be my dream car..as in my future car...it obv wouldnt be my first car or a daily driver...im looking on getting a 1998-2002 or a 1982-1992 my budget is from like 1$-7000$

A 3rd gen V8 Camaro can have as much as 245 horspower. I would suggest one of these for your first car. When I was getting my first car, getting a 4th gen V6 really turned me off. So I was really looking at getting one of these. I would choose a 1987-1992 IROC or Z28 with a TPI 350 motor. These things run about low 15's, high 14's in the quarter. They're not incredibly fast, but not they're not slow either and you get a nice V8.

Well I can tell you that driving my V6 Camaro is fun. The car is a really nice car to drive and I can hold my own in the speed department. It can corner better than the local ricer crowd living near me. I know how to drive, I am better than most and I can handle a car just fine 300+ horses are easy for me to handle. I didnt learn this over night I took the last 20 years to learn and I am still learning. The most important lesson I have learned was to respect the power no matter how much or how little the car has. Can you have fun in a V6 car... Yes. Is a V8 more fun... depends. I get 10+ MPG better in my V6 than my wife does in her Z28 (2000 Z and 99 V6), My insurance payments are alot lower than hers are. So that means more $$$ in my pocket for toys. If you want power try out a 3.8L car and see how that feels. It is still enought to get in trouble and even killed but much better than the 3.4L I can tell you a 3.4L is really lacking in the power department. As for the 3rd Gen cars, they are not my favorite, they have their share of issues, they look good but FWIW you get better performance from the 4th gen and better style from a second Gen for the same price.

Haha yeah, that was way back in the day. My cousins are still into that "Jap scrap." I'm glad I grew out of it, thanks to my dad. Anyways, back to the topic. The LT1 Camaro is a nice car also, but I really don't want you to buy a car thats too fast for you. I would stick with the 1987-1992 TPI Camaro. You can find some pretty good deals on these cars and the performance upgrades for these are less expensive than those for the LT1.
