Default 1997 30th z28 350/ 6 speed

Hi everyone, I just had the omni spark replaced in my Camaro and now when you punch it the engine revs to about 3500-4000 rpm and then stalls for a fraction of a second and then catches and continues to climb and then I shift. The mechanic said he does not know what is the reason for it. I am hoping some one here might be able to help me. I have this 1997 Camaro 30 th annv. z28 convertible w/lt1&6spd and a 1991 Camaro z28 w/ 350 & auto w/ T-tops. Thanks TRCHARGER66

Welcome aboard, not sure what the problem is. Does it do this every time or just occasionally?
Did you also replace the plugwires with the new optispark?

Hi yes it seems to happen every time. I pull to a stop and make a turn and accelerate to speed of traffic and it will cut out, like a rev limiter but then catches and climbs. The mechanic replaced the spark plugs and wires and the I c m but not the coil. Thanks for any help

The '93 Z28 I had acted like that after a new opti and plugs/wires,turned out to be a burnt plug wire on #8. Not much room in there,if the wire isn't just right it gets burnt pretty quick. Might not be your problem but worth looking into.
