IMO There is no such thing as a sleeper Camaro. People will assume you have an LS motor and you took the badges off. An LS car with a few boltons can easily break 12 seconds in the 1/4. If you offering to race the only people that will accept will people that can outrun an LS motor with boltons. Plus super charges whine, so most car guys that hear your car would assume a supercharge LS 9 second car. A sleeper is a 1987 4 door Fairmont with 750hp or pretty much any car that never had a fast version and is not commonly modded.
I drove a 96 3800 for 5 years with a Flowmaster then a Magnaflow exhaust. Most of my friends are car guys. All of them assumed it was a V8 until I showed it to them. Even telling them it was a v6 was not enough.
Building a boosted 3800 even to be as fast as a shock Ls1 is neither cheap nor easy. You really want to match someone else build. One screw up on the tune one wrong set of bolts and the whole motor is scraped. Even decent car builds who have done other cars can go through a couple of engines before they get the boost right. FYI 3800 respond better to turbo then superchargers.
For what it will cost you to get your 3800 too 400hp you could buy and build 5.3 to 750hp.
I am not saying you should not do it, I just wanted to be sure you had the facts. Search for Musicmans posts. Get gave up on the 3800 amd went to the 5.3 but theter is a lot of good info in his posts. There is also a current turbo build going on in the project section.
Good luck whatever you do.

yup if your a good mechanic or got one there is a thread on 5.3l lsx engine in ther 3,8l car ,but I still think the z28 cars gives you more to work with ,couse you got to build up everything on a v6 car look at project bish ,look at them all then figure out where your going ,but have atleast 5K to start an plan for more ,for that amount you can get a z28 for less if your shop with 300 hp to start aprox
