ok, so my research basically says that the gen 4 SS's come with 17inch wheels....and the z28 and base model were 16s..

what are the differences / reasons for going to the 17 inch wheel?

what are the advantages / disadvantages...

does the 17 let you use a wider tire? does it get better traction / handling or something ? Do the 17s help more on takeoff or top end ?

these are just some of the questions i have, if someone can elaborate I would be thankful !

 

17s look better than 16s

width of wheel lets you determine width of tire, but there arnt drag tires in 275-xx-16. 17s offer a 275-40-17

16s have a taller sidewall that offers better traction than a lower profile 17, but the same could be argued for width

 

the 17" wheelshandle and have betterbraking than a 16" because they have less sidewall defection , but the 16" have better straight line traction and have a better ride quality because the tire helps absorb bumps.
