Default 01 camaro smells like rotten eggs

My car suddenly tthrough two codes saying both downstream o2 sensors are out. Why does it smell like rotten eggs? Is it the o2s or the cats?

i was pushing the car hard the other night alot of stops and hard take offs, when i pulled in at home was smelling the rotting eggs, but dont normally smell them, could it mean the cats are bad too or is it just because i was pushing it?

The exhaust smelling like rotten eggs can be normal, without it being any problem with the cat. Sometimes the brand of gas, or the octane you're using affects the exhaust to smell like that. If you're getting the smell regularly, switch stations, or move up to the next octane level. It could take a few tanks of gas to clear out the cat, and the smell.
In the OP's case however, the fact that he got a downstream oxy sensors error, the cat(s) would be suspect.

So since the codes ssays o2 sensors its probably the cats? So I shouldn't replace the sensors?

Rotten eggs smell is from sulfur -- you likely need cats -- how many miles on the car? The rear sensors measure the efficiency of the cats, and that's about all they do...

Replace the CATS, or just gut if you don't need them for emissions.
