Default 01 3.8 temp issues

My 01 3.8 was going great and the temp was at normal OT. Then it dropped to nothing and the fans started running on high. Got home and motor was cold to the touch. Relaxed thermostat and nothing changed. Replaced the ECT sensor and started it up still nothing changed. At a cold start the fans kick on high gear and never shut off and it never registers any temp. Any ideas cause I'm stuck. I even pulled relays 1 at a time and when I got to the one farthest from the front it shut the motor off. Swapped it with another relay still the same issue. HELP!!!!!!

IMO the first thing I would do is get a scan tool and see if the PCM is telling the fan to turn on or not. If it not then its a electrical issue after the PCM if so then its a issue on a input to the PCM or the PCM itself.

OBD 2 blue tooth adapters can be bought on amazon for under $15. You can the use your phone as a scanner.

Also grab a shop manual from the manual section and check that relay to see if the PCM is grounding the relay (I think that is how it works) then I would disconnect the PCM and see it is still grounded. A short would do this.

Also I removed the cooling fan control fuse and the fan kept running. Then I pulled the 40amp cooling fan fuse and it kept running as well

Did you pull the relays for the fans? Fuses should have killed power, but not always.

I'm with Gorn and see what codes come up, even if the SES light isn't on. Fans usually go to default on if there's a trouble code.
