Hey I got a 1989 Camaro RS that was a factor 305 with the 5 speed, and i swapped the 305 with a 350 and kept the 5 speed. I have been told that I need to regear the transmission because the 5 speed can't handle the 35 some odd horsepower increase. I was just curious whether this is true or not, can anyone help me?

 

Regear the 5-sp??? It might be true it cannot handle the torque of a 350 because GM thought they would have warranty problems. With that said you should be ok as long as you don't do anything dumb. Also have those people who told you about the 5-sp to regear their heads.
