Default TPI Power

Okay, I was talking with a guy the other day & the subject of tuned port injection came up. His input was a TPI is only good up to about 5000 RPM then the motor runs out of air. I have a newly built 383 stroker I plan on putting into an RS & have been giving thought to goingTPI. I may be buying an 89 IROC & will pull the TPI off it to put on the 383 along with all the other parts to convert fron V6 to V8. I'm sure things like injectors, & runners will have to be changed out for larger ones.

Ya'll's thought on this one, does TPI run out of air around 5K??

Thanks,
CCar

The long intake runners on the TPI are sized to boost the torque on a 305 or 350 engine, and most likely will choke the 383 down, You can go to bigger intake runners and plenum and that should take care of feeding the 383. You will also need to tune the ECM otherwise the whole exercises will be a waste of time.

Well, my TPI tends to do the same thing, I have great power all through the powerband (especially low end torque) But when it reaches about 5,000 to 5,500 RPMs It won't have anything. But most motors shoudln't really be pushed like that. Emphasizm on Most.

Okay here's a system I was thinking of using on the 383. It's a TPI & there is also a TBI multi port injection I found somewehre but haven't been able to find it again. I think Eldebrock sells one. Check the link & stats then give me your thoughts on it.
