Default tbi/tpi/carb question

i have been reading the forumsand noticed that alot of people do not like TBI. well i own a 91 camaro rs convertible with the 305 in it and its TBI. I was just wondering why people do not like TBI? Sorry, just dont know a lot about cars at the moment and still trying to learn. So Id like to switch to the best option that will give me power.

There is nothing wrong with TBI (Throttle Body Injection), but it is not a sophisticated as TPI (Tuned Port Injection). TBI is the next step up from a carburetor, the fuel is injected by two large injectors above the throttle body, and uses an intake manifold very similar to that of a carburated engine. Any fuel that is not vaporized flows as a liquid to the intake ports, and this places restrictions on how the intake can be designed. TPI injects the fuel directly into the intake ports, and the intake manifold only handles air, which allows more design freedom.
The TBI system is more restrictive than the TPI system, and all things being equal, will not produce as much power.

TPI is the next step up in technology, but not necessarily in power production. Most cases carburators are wiil outperform TBI, and for many people they are easier to tune for performance or to compensate for mods. TBI was a cheap and simple way to meet pollution requirements because it was computer controlled and fuel mixture could be easily adjusted in response to O2 sensor output.

wait... no ... im still interested, like i posted just minuites ago my car sometimes wont start unless i unplug the wires from the injectors, is this a big problem or does the car just drown and is fixable with a simple fuel injector cleaner? And will TPI make this problem disapear if it isnt the latter?
