how do i get the tc to lockup using a switch do i run direct to batt or do i need some resistors first?

Both of those say they are non-return style. Keep looking for the right one. Summit has them, and it will say return style in their description.

When you shift an auto from 1 to 2, it doesn't shift the transmission into second gear. It allows the transmission to shift into second gear, what this means is that the transmission will shift when it's good and ready to shift, and the only thing you're doing is over-revving your engine and stressing your lower gears.
If your transmission isn't shifting on it's own, you can't force it to upshift.

That's sort of correct. It's in reference to how the TV cable from the trans is hooked up to the carb, it's not about the shifter. You need to have the proper geometry on the carb linkage where the TV cable connects, or you can do some damage to the trans. You'll be able to shift manually if you want to. What carb are you putting on?

here is my swap thread. it was copied from thirdgen. if you go with a holley you will need there tv cable bracket. for lock up use the two top corner wires of the obd1 connector and put in a switch. that is what i did.

ok its all together. car shifts just like it used to.
but it dont kick down at all. ive adjusted and re-ajusted and adjusted the tv cable multiple times with no luck. the computer is still hooked up too.

why dont i have kick down anymore? ive tried going tighter than factory and looser than factory and no luck.

when throttle is wot the cable is nice and tight with about 1/8 in deflection but still no kick down. unless my throttle cable is the problem... ive never looked to see if when pedal is floored if carb is wide open or not. other than this it runs great. little on the rich side but runs smooter.

also car dont seem as fast as it was with tbi.

can i run a power wire hot only with ignition on to the tc to unlock it? then i was going to have a hi beam floor switch that i hit to shut off power locking the tc that way i dont have to take my hand off the wheel to flip switch

Check with someone operating the gas pedal instead of opening the throttle by hand, don't assume the carb is opening all the way. By you saying it doesn't seem as fast as the TBI makes me think the carb isn't opening fully, and you may be completely missing out on having your secondaries open.
For your t.c. lockup, you don't want to use an aftermarket retrofit kit?

checked today throttle is wide open when pedal to the floor

what is in aftermarket retro fit kit?

why buy a kit when all you have to do is run a power hot with ignition on and a switch to control it wont cost me more than $10.... so how much is a kit?

ive been using unbelieveable amounts of fuel too im getting around 5-10 mpg

i think its running too rich.

o ya i had a tranny guy adjust the tv cable for me...didnt help
